Call for Papers: Special Issue on Digital Economy and the Sustainable Development of Economy and Environment
Brief Introduction:
The issue of climate change is getting worse as world economy grows, and carbon emissions are now one of the main things endangering sustainable development worldwide. Given the frequency of extreme weather events,degradation of ecological environment, and shortage of resources, immediate measures are required to address the problem of carbon emissions. As an emerging force in the new era, digital economy profoundly changes traditional economic models and production methods. Through digital transformation, intelligent upgrades, and technological innovation, new opportunities and solutions are provided to achieve a low-carbon economy and green development.
With its reliance on technologies like big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, digital economy is changing the face of the world economy. As a new form of economic activity, digital economy can not only enhance production efficiency and optimize resource allocation but also play an important role in reducing energy consumption and promoting green innovation. In addition, digital economy may promote emission reductions, but it also presents new difficulties, thus its effects on carbon emissions are not clear-cut. As an illustration, the energy usage of data centers and technologies like blockchain and artificial intelligence can both hurt carbon emissions. As a result, a lot of attention in both academic and policy circles is gained by comprehending the connection between carbon emissions and digital economy and examining their reciprocal effects.
This Special Issue seeks to compile frontier research on carbon emissions and digital economy to explore the potential and role of digital technology in reducing climate change and fostering green transformation. Moreover, The Special Issue focuses on the following topics, but not be limited to them:
Digital economy, industrial structure, and carbon emissions;
Digital economy, technological innovation, and carbon emissions;
Digital economy and the green transition of local economies;
Digital economy and high-quality social development;
